Improving Domestic Violence Treatment Programs
In partnership with the Kansas Attorney General's office, WLP staff conducted a research project to learn how the Kansas criminal justice system utilizes intervention programs in the cases of domestic battery. The report will provide several system wide recommendations for expanding batter intervention programs in Kansas. Full Report

Self-Defense Series
Co-sponsored with Defensive Tactics Club and Justice Department. Learn techniques ranging from verbal control to ground fighting, ballistic grappling, escort holds, cuffing techniques, and much more. Specific groups are welcome to seek out Self-Defense training for their groups, such as Sororities & Residents Halls.

Leaders of Wellness Series
Co-sponsored with the Wellness Center of FHSU. This program emphasizes creating and reaffirming positive and healthy personal body image through a variety of structured discussions, activities, and exercises.

The Jana Mackey Distinguished Lecture Series
WLP encourages FHSU students to participate in this University of Kansas program. In honor and memory of Jana Mackey, KU has established a lecture series aimed at raising awareness about issues close to Jana's heart, namely breaking down barriers and fostering opportunities to secure women's rights.

The Red Flag Campaign
Is a public awareness campaign designed to address dating violence and promote the prevention of dating violence on college campuses that the WLP will sponsor.

The Kansas Women's Leadership Conference
This state wide conference is brought to you by the students, faculty and staff of Fort Hays State University (FHSU.) This all-inclusive conference has been designed for women of all ages and professions and will provide a new insight on each person’s leadership potential.

Women in Politics Co-sponsored with the American Democracy Project, this fall will bring many political forums and discussions to campus. It will be interesting to get some women politicians to come and get involved in these events as part of the WLP/ADP partnership.

Equal Visibility Everywhere
EVE is a national program based out of Washington DC that ultimately strives to change the culture and face of the United States by supporting more women in all areas of life. Primarily, the WLP hopes to help the EVE organization by working to influence Kansas to add our own statue of a woman in the National Statuary Hall, Amelia Earhart.

Jana's Campaign
WLP partners with Jana's Campaign on several activities that focus on reducing violence against women. Issues of equality and violence are a barrier to women who seak leadership roles in their lives.

16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence
To raise global awareness and in support of the "16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence" campaign launched by Rutgers University, Womens Leadership Project advocate Luo Zhai (Jessie) is working on a Chinese version of the 2010 campaign material. Zhai said, "China represents a full 20% of the world's population. It is important and necessary to make Chinese people aware of the global effort to combat gender violence."
