Dereama Allenbaugh

“Are you wearing your hat?  Or is your hat wearing you?”
Dereama Allenbaugh, Owner of Rock Haven Spa, Salon 1007, and Salon Diva

When do you know which leadership 'hat' to wear? Can you get so caught up in life that your hat actually starts to wear you? With our world moving at warp speed, it is easy to lose ourselves in the hectic lives that require us to change our 'hats' numerous times a day. By focusing on self awareness and connecting your mind and body we can start to recognize when a break is needed so that your hat does not wear you. The primary goal of this session will be to teach you how to sustain yourself so that you can be invigorated and excited about everything you do.

Come learn more interesting facts about women involved in the leadership process. This information represents one of the most important social trends of the last century, though often absent from our history classes. From civic organizations to politics to CEOs, women continually close the representative gender equality gap.

Stacey Seibel

"Getting Your Ducks in a Row"
Stacey Seibel, Attorney, Seibel Law Offices

Getting Your Ducks in a Row – Estate Planning for a woman and her family. Women wear a variety of hats in their lifetime. For example, depending on her unique circumstances, a woman may be a daughter, an aunt, a wife, a friend, a mother, a grandmother or even a great-grandmother. Often a woman is also the Family Manager. Under her leadership important dates and events are scheduled and the family’s paperwork, from bills to taxes, is completed. As the Family Manager, there is one critical area that needs to be addressed – estate planning.

Estate planning is a process. It involves people–your family, other individuals and, in many cases, charitable organizations of your choice. From how you want your property distributed at your death, to designating a guardian for any child under age 18, to preparing for incapacity issues and health care directives, Seibel will show how leadership is used in preparing a good estate plan. No one wants to be remembered for leaving a legal and financial mess for their loved ones to sort out.

Carlota Ponds

"Personal Empowerment: Finishing Uncut Diamonds"
Carlota Ponds, Program Associate, Kansas Leadership Center

An uncut diamond normally resembles a pebble you would discard without a second glance. But with a little help, that plain pebble becomes something prized for both its beauty and its strength. The value of a diamond is so great, that even so-called imperfect stones command a high price.

Women are like diamonds. Many have felt the pain of being overlooked "without a second glance" for a friendship, a date or a promotion. But those painful experiences serve to cut and polish us in ways that help us reach our maximum luster. Our time spent under the knife and against the pumice of life may be grueling, but the finished result is powerful. You may be an uncut diamond now...but you can shine!

Please join Carlota Ponds, Program Associate with the Kansas Leadership Center, as she shines a light to show off the diamond sheen that is in us all. Carlota shares humorous "sandpaper" stories from her own life where tragedy turned to treasure. Her exercises will get you up and moving in the right direction to see your pitfalls as positives.

Come hear how she and Brad went through the fire and came out on the other side with their faith, love and family still intact.
